Japanese people seem to generally like domestic automobiles, and the share of foreign cars in Japan is small.

Based on the statics of JAIA (Japan Automobile Importers Association), the number of newly registered imported cars (2021: 344,552 units) has continued to be flat for the past 10 years.

The number includes Japanese cars manufactured abroad and imported back to Japan, and the proportion in the fiscal year 2021 is about 24.6 percent (2021: 84,800 units).

But foreign brand automobiles are considered fashionable in Japan, and some people repeatedly purchase them.
