Togakushi Ninja Village: Enjoy the Attractions in Nagano
As you know, Ninja (忍者) is a spy of medieval Japan trained in martial arts and hired for espionage and assassinations.
Even now, their villages still exist in Japan, even though there are probably no real Ninjas.
Chibikko Ninja Mura (チビッコ忍者村) in Togakushi
Among such spots, I recommend Chibikko Ninja Mura (チビッコ忍者村: Kids’ Ninja Village) in Togakushi, Nagano, if you have children.
That is because I think, based on my experiences, many attractions there are just fun and can make them excited.

Togakushi (戸隠)
Togakushi (戸隠) is a remote mountainous area in Nagano Prefecture known as a sacred place in Japan,
and about one hour walk from the Ninja village takes you to its deepest-placed prestigious shrine.
Although you have to go through a mountain path surrounded by a forest of trees to reach the Shinto shrine, the sight is magnificent with mystic beauty.
In addition, Togakushi prides itself on its soba noodles called Togakushi Soba, and those things make the area a popular tourist destination.
Kids Ninja Village
Now, let’s get down to the main topic today.
The other day, I went to the Ninja village in Togakushi, Chibikko Ninja Mura, with my friend.
We entered it and soon found a shop renting Ninja costumes. And after a moment’s thought, we decided to rent them.
Karakuri Yashiki
After putting on the costumes, we moved forward and found two Ninja houses, generally known as Karakuri Yashiki (からくり屋敷).
The mansions have gimmicks/tricks inside, which we tried to unravel but took us about half an hour.
As you can see in the photos, the inside was filled with an eerie atmosphere where we ran into several Ninjas.
Not only that but there were even inclined rooms!
Shuriken Throwing Star Booth
Next, we headed to the throwing-star booth and threw Shuriken!
Athletic Playground
In the village, there is even a large playground where many pieces of athletic equipment are installed.
Even we adults could enjoy them, and I had so much fun, just like when I was a boy.
Lovely Sweets
At the end of the visit, we dropped by a restaurant in the village serving various dishes and sweets.
Like the ice cream corn pictured above, some are gorgeous and lovely, satisfying you.
