Kameda’s New Happy Turn Cracker with Happy Spice

Happy Turn (ハッピーターン) is one of Japan’s favorite Senbei rice crackers that’s been around since 1976, known for its addicting seasoning powder called Happy Powder (ハッピーパウダー).

The snack is produced and sold by the Niigata-based confectionery maker Kameda Seika (亀田製菓), which recently introduced the official rival of Happy Powder, called Happy Spice (ハッピースパイス).

The Happy Turn Senbei with Happy Spice, abbreviated to Happy Turn Spice, was released by Kameda on March 27th, 2023, which has been a bit topic lately, and I was intrigued by it.

Probably because of its high topicality, I could find the product easily at my go-to 7-Eleven convenience store and bought one to try, and here it is.

Happy Turn Spice Rice Crackers

As you can see on the packaging, the Happy Spice consists of 8 kinds of secret umami spice, which makes the rice crackers uniquely tasty, colorful, and one-of-a-kind.

Even though the spiciness of Happy Spice is subtle, it gives the tongue a noticeable and complex impact and delighted my taste buds.

Overall, the flavor of this Happy Turn is so well-balanced and addictive that I think everyone can like it. I prefer this “Spice” version over the regular Happy Turn!

Hi Tomo! Thanks for the review :)! I found your blog because I was looking for reviews about a certain candy. I decided to drop a comment about this product because I was able to try it last week and I agree with your review! It was tasty and I liked it. I hope this brand makes more different types of flavors!

I agree! I hope there’s more new flavors in the future. I’ve only tried the original, the Happy Spice one (the one mentioned in this post) and the Hokkaido cheese one :)! The mascot is also so cute. Hope you have a great weekend!
