Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen Instant Noodle Soup from Sanyo
Today when I stopped by a Seven-Eleven convenience store on the way home from work, a bowl of instant ramen drew my attention.
It was a new addition by Sanyo Foods whose name “Tenkaippin (天下一品)” caught my eye.
Sanyo Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen Instant Noodle
For the unfamiliar, Tenkaippin is a Japanese ramen chain that started its business in Kyoto in 1971, and as of today (10/26/2021), it has 233 locations around the country.
The restaurant is especially popular for its “Kotteri Ramen (こってりラーメン)” with thick chicken broth and has many repeaters for its addictive taste.
With the help of Tenkaippin, Sanyo created this that beautifully recreates the ramen chain’s signature dish Kotteri Ramen and introduced the product into the market on October 25.
In the cup, you will see these 3 packets on the dried wheat noodle block.
- The green packet contains a soup base powder.
- The red one contains a liquid soup base.
- The blue one has dehydrated garnishes consisting of seasoned pork, Menma bamboo shoots, and green onions.
For those who want to try this cup ramen someday, here are the cooking instructions.
|1||First, peel back the lid about halfway and put the dehydrated garnishes into the cup.|
|2||Then, pour boiling water until it reaches the line indicated inside the cup.|
|3||Close the lid, place the liquid soup base packet on top, and wait for 4 minutes.|
|4||Then, remove the paper lid and add in the liquid soup base.|
|5||At the same time, add the soup base powder into the cup.|

|7||Now it is ready to eat, enjoy!|
This product captures the characteristics of Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen and is of quite a high level for the price of 260 yen (about 2.3 USD).
The broth is creamy and very flavorful and leaves a delicious aftertaste. The noodles are average in quality, but as a whole, this instant ramen is definitely worth a try.
According to the ingredients list on the side of the cup, the soup base of this instant ramen is made from chicken extract, lard, soy sauce, sugars, pork extract, salt, protein hydrolyzate, gelatin, garlic paste, chicken fat, powdered potato, processed fat, rice powder, processed soybean powder, spices, yeast extract, and vegetable oil.
