Luxury Truffle Ramen Instant Noodle Soup from Nissin Raoh
Japanese cup ramen comes in various unique & quirky flavors, and some are pretty luxurious, like this truffle ramen from Nissin’s Raoh series.
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is 500 yen (excluding tax), which is about twice as high as the average instant ramen bowl.
Nissin Raoh 30th Anniversary-Limited Truffle Ramen
Nissin launched the Raoh (instant noodles) brand in 2012, and this ramen bowl debuted on January 2nd of this year (2023) in commemoration of the 30th anniversary.
Speaking of instant noodles with a truffle flavor, I first picture the Japanese Soba Noodles Tsuta instant ramen. But unlike the product priced at 278 yen (including tax), this one uses actual truffles.
Contents
Not only truffle, but this instant ramen is particular about other ingredients.
The bowl comes with these three vivid-colored flavor packets (which are all 後入れ/put after cooking the noodles), whose contents are as follows.
- The wine-red one (後入れ①) contains a special soy sauce-based sauce blended with Cedar Barrel Yuasa Shoyu and Nagoya Cochin Chicken extract.
- The jet-black one (後入れ②) fills a special truffle oil containing 0.2 percent actual black truffle.
- The royal-blue one (後入れ③) has a special truffle paste also containing 0.2 percent black truffle.
Cooking
As all the packets are 後入れ, in other words, you are supposed to cook the noodles first in this ramen. Specifically,
1 | First, pour boiling water until it reaches the line indicated inside the cup. | |
---|---|---|
2 | Close the lid and place the three packets on top to warm. | |
3 | 5 minutes later, remove the lid and lightly loosen the noodles. Then, put the contents of the wine-red 後入れ①. | |
4 | At the same time, add the contents of the jet-black 後入れ② and stir all the ingredients well with chopsticks. | |
5 | Finally, top the noodle soup with the 後入れ③ black truffle paste. | |
6 | Now it’s ready to eat. Enjoy the truffle ramen! |
Taste
As you may already notice, this ramen has no garnishes other than the special paste topping, bringing out the best flavor of black truffle, together with Cedar Barrel Yuasa Shoyu and Nagoya Cochin Chicken.
The fragrance of the soup is super aromatic, and I have never had (very well-scented) instant ramen like this. The taste is also superb, restaurant-quality!
The instant ramen is pricey but absolutely worth it (I think). So I highly recommend this if you can get it.

Where can I buy this? I’m in Shinjuku now.
Hi, thank you for commenting.
I see some 7-Eleven convenience stores still selling it in Niigata, but I’m unsure how it is in Tokyo.
Lawsons was selling it a few months back!
