Fujiya’s long-selling Look Chocolate with 4 flavors

When it comes to Japanese milk chocolate with flavored cream inside, Fujiya Look Chocolate and Meiji Strawberry Chocolate have a long history and are best-known.

While, as I wrote in this article, Strawberry Chocolate was introduced by Meiji in 1967, Fujiya’s Look Chocolate, also known as Look A La Mode Chocolate, has been around since 1962.

Actually today, I have the latter milk chocolate, so let’s take a close look at it.

Meiji Strawberry Chocolate has a strawberry-flavored cream filling, while what I introduce here Fujiya Look Chocolate is made up of 4 flavors. Since each flavor consists of 3 pieces, the box contains 12 pieces of flavored chocolate in total.

Incidentally, the logo and package of Fujiya Look A La Mode Chocolate was designed by Raymond Loewy (1893 – 1986), a French-born, famous American industrial designer.

Flavors

The original flavors at the time of release were coffee, strawberry, banana, and caramel, but the current edition is made up of pineapple, strawberry, banana, and caramel flavors.

As you can see in the photo above, the milk chocolate of Fujiya Look Chocolate is filled with cream flavored with those flavorings.

Taste

As for the taste, the milk chocolate part is mild, milky but not overly sweet, while the cream filling is very smooth, creamy, and gives a nice, but not overpowering, taste accent to the overall chocolate.

Personally, I especially like the strawberry and pineapple flavors because they have a hint of pleasant tartness.
