Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen Instant Noodle Soup from Sanyo

Today, a cup of instant ramen drew my attention when I stopped by a 7-Eleven convenience store on the way home from work

Specifically, it was a new addition by Sanyo Foods, whose name, Tenkaippin (天下一品), caught my eye.

Sanyo Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen

Tenkaippin Instant Ramen from Sanyo Shokuhin

For the unfamiliar, Tenkaippin is a Japanese ramen chain that started its business in Kyoto in 1971, and as of today (10/26/2021), it has 233 locations around the country.

The restaurant is well known for its Kotteri Ramen (こってりラーメン) with thick chicken broth and has many repeaters for its addictive taste.

With the help of Tenkaippin, Sanyo created this that beautifully recreates the ramen chain’s signature dish Kotteri Ramen and introduced the product into the market on October 25.

Contents

In the cup, you will see these three packets on the dried wheat noodle block. The contents are;

  • The green packet contains a soup base powder.
  • The red one contains a liquid soup base.
  • The blue one has dehydrated garnishes of seasoned pork, Menma bamboo shoots, and green onions.

Cooking

Here, I share the cooking instructions for those who want to try this ramen bowl someday.

1 First, peel the lid halfway and put the dehydrated garnishes into the cup.
2 Then, pour boiling water until it reaches the line indicated inside the cup.
3 Close the lid, place the liquid soup base packet on top, and wait for 4 minutes.
4 Then, remove the paper lid and add the liquid soup base to the cup.
5 At the same time, add the soup base powder.
6 Finally, give it all a good stir with chopsticks or the like.

Taste

Tenkaippin Instant Noodles

Taste-wise, this product well captures the characteristics of Tenkaippin Kotteri Ramen and is of quite a high level for the price of 260 yen.

The broth is creamy and flavorful and leaves a delicious aftertaste, while the noodles are of average quality. But as a whole, this instant ramen is definitely worth a try.
