Peyong vs. Peyang Instant Yakisoba Noodles
If you are an instant ramen fan, you may know Peyang Sauce Yakisoba, one of Japan’s top-selling instant yakisoba noodles, together with Nissin UFO.
But what about Peyong?
Peyong vs. Peyang Sauce Yakisoba
Peyong (ペヨング) and Peyang (ペヤング: officially Peyoung) are both instant yakisoba brands from the Japanese company Maruka Foods (まるか食品).
While Peyang Sauce Yakisoba is their signature product, introduced in 1975, Peyong is the frugal low-grade version of Peyang that went on the market in 2016.
According to this article, Peyong uses Yo (ヨ) in its name because ヨ lies at the lowest position in the “Ya” column of the Japanese syllabary table, Ya (ヤ) Yu (ユ) Yo (ヨ).
Contents
The relationship between Peyang and Peyong is similar to that of a Regular Cup Noodle and an Assari Oishii Cup Noodle. They mainly differ in content.
While the weight and calories of Peyang are 120 g/544 kcal, Peyong is 106 g/456 kcal. Besides, the former’s garnishes include seasoned chicken, but the latter does not.
Cooking
They are the same as for cooking, cooked like this.
Taste
Peyong and Peyang Sauce Yakisoba look like the same thing but taste slightly different. While the former is more about the sauce, the latter has more umami.
