What is Locabo Noodles from Myojo?
At the end of March (2023), Myojo (明星) Foods added a new series called Locabo Noodles (ロカボ Noodles) (released on 27th March) to their cup ramen lineup, and now, you can see its commercial on TV and Youtube.
Upon watching that, people would find it’s a healthy noodle or at least not unhealthy, but what exactly is Locabo Noodles?
Myojo Lacabo Noodles (ロカボ Noodles)
Based on the official site of Myojo, Locabo Noodles is a high-protein instant noodle with plenty of dietary fiber.
And the maker created it considering the PFC balance, which stands for the composition ratio of Protein, Fat, and Carbs.
You can see the ideal balance in the light orange triangle, and the product’s one (dark orange line) falls within the range.
In other words, this instant ramen has an excellent nutritional balance; It is low-calorie but umami-rich and has the same deliciousness as ordinary varieties.
The Locabo (low-carb) Noodles are currently available in three flavors; こってり醤油/rich soy sauce, ピリ辛酸辣湯/spicy Sura-Tan, and 濃厚鶏白湯/thick white chicken broth.
And the photo above shows the contents of the こってり醤油 (which I bought at a supermarket for 128 yen). According to the product description, the meat-like topping even contains protein cubes.
Cooking
The ramen only comes with the golden Shoyu-Dare (醤油だれ: soy sauce-based Tare) sachet.
And its cooking is not complicated, as demonstrated (following the cooking directions on the side of the cup) in the table below.
1 | First, remove the sachet from the cup, and peel the lid halfway. Then, pour boiling water until it reaches the line indicated inside the cup. | |
---|---|---|
2 | Next, close the lid and let the noodles steep in the water for 4 minutes. | |
3 | Then, after adding the Shoyu-Dare sauce to the cup, give it all a good stir. | |
4 | Now it’s ready to eat. Enjoy! |
Taste
As the maker claims, the Locabo Noodles are pretty tasty and not inferior in taste to other average ramen cups, and its attributes remind me of Nissin’s Cup Noodle Pro.
