Meiji Meltykiss: Japan’s Favorite Winter Chocolate
The seasonally limited chocolate representing Japan’s winter, Meiji Meltykiss, is now on sale.
When I shopped at a supermarket the other day, I found it lined up and chose and bought this Matcha green tea flavor.
Meiji Meltykiss
Introduced in 1992, Meltykiss is Japan’s favorite winter-limited chocolate brand from Meiji.
One primary reason the treat is sold only during the wintertime is that it is difficult not to melt the snow-like candy in the summer heat of Japan.
Flavors
According to the official site of Meiji, their Meltykiss chocolate comes in 6 flavors this winter,
Premium Chocolat, Fruity Thick Strawberry, First Flush Matcha Green Tea, Koku-Uma Caramel Butter, Melt-In-The-Mouth Rum & Raisin, and Melt-In-The-Mouth Brandy & Orange.
Contents
Now, let’s see the contents of the Meltykiss First Flush Matcha Green Tea I picked up this time.
The music box-like fascinating dark green box associated with Matcha contains 14 pieces of individually wrapped chocolate.
Chocolate
And here is the Matcha green tea chocolate. It is a cube with a two-layer structure, whose exterior is milk chocolate, while the interior is mild green tea flavor chocolate.
Overall, the sweet is very smooth, like Nama Chocolate, and deliciously melts in your mouth.
Price/Where to Buy
As previously mentioned, Meiji Meltykiss has been a favorite winter treat in Japan since 1992 and is available in many supermarkets during the wintertime.
The suggested retail price is 267 yen.
